In HIS words.....
I believe in God.
I do.
There are just different aspects in my life when I feel the need to connect with him more.
That may be good, it may be bad.
People may feel that I should always connect with him.
Others will feel it's okay to lean when the spirit is compromised.
I want to read the word.
I want to understand what I'm reading.
I know he is real and is there for me whenever needed.
Whether it is because *I* have the need or he has the need to lead.
Who's to say there is a difference.
I am not one to spout off verses.
I am one who has NO verses memorized.
I am not one to throw religion in anyone's face.
Nor will I ever be....
Does that make me any less a believer?
Any less one of His children?
No.
I want to read his word.
I want to comprehend that word.
Will reading his word make what has already been planned for my life change?
No.
Will reading his word make the predicaments that surround me any less questionable?
Maybe...
Will reading his word make me feel I have an upperhand on what is thrown at me or what is given to me?
YES!
I am in search of peace.
I am in search of answers.
I am in search of freedom.
Can I get this from God's word?
Can I get this from just reading his word and feeling that ultimate rush of understanding wash over me?
Can I get this from John, Mark, Genesis, Ephesians??
Can I get this from Galatians, Luke, Matthew, Corinthians?
From Romans, Psalms and Proverbs???
I don't know.
I won't know until I try.
What would it hurt?
Nothing. Nothing at all...
Reading is reading. Words are words. We all comprehend them differently.
Books are time machines.
They are eye openers.
Books are get-a-ways.
They are learning tools.
Books are fun.
There are 66 BOOKS written by 40 authors in The Bible.
66...books!
40...authors!
I am new to this reading of the books and the distinguishing of the authors.
I am new to wanting to understand the word.
I found a book list I am concentrating on reading, in this order.
The Gospel of John
The Gospel of Mark
I John
II John
III John
Genesis
Ephesians
Galatians
The Gospel Of Luke
The Gospel Of Matthew
I Corinthians
II Corinthians
Romans
Psalms
Proverbs
My Bible is out, actually it's John's Bible, but now it's "ours".
I may have to reference the "easy to read" version on my iPad every once in a while to get the "full meaning", but I am learning...I am willing...I am ready.
I am excited.
I am hopeful.
I am blessed.
Truly.
**I want to thank several people that offered up their favorite verses when I asked. They were ones that they find themselves going back to over and over again. They were the ones that really spoke to them. I Thank You... =)

ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love this, gf! I know you have a heart to understand His Word better...and that makes my heart soar...cuz so do I. You know I am ALWAYS available to read & discuss with you. I so enjoyed that one night we did. I love digging into that Book! I always get something out of it, whether I read for 5 minutes, or 5 hours. I know you are going to find some AWESOME stuff for you in there, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love and I mean LOVE to read, that is something I've never "gotten into" why? I'm not sure if it was because when I tried I was too young, or if it's just bc of the stereotypical reasons. I think that your post however, may make me want to attempt it again. I mean, in 'English' it's just like any other story we read right? Happiness, sadness, drama, etc. Should be interesting!
ReplyDeleteAnonymously Dawn Again.
Anonymously Dawn <3 ....I <3 you!!!!! I love that you commented, and MY post might get you to give it another shot! The whole 'it's just like any other story we read right?" really got me. ((hugss))
